I recently had Alcaine 0.5% Ophth Soln 15ml eye drops prescribed to me by my doctor for a minor eye procedure. The doctor said it's a common solution used to numb the eye for short procedures. It worked great for the procedure, but afterwards I experienced some burning and stinging, which I know are possible side effects. However, I'm a bit concerned because I've heard some horror stories about rare but serious side effects like changes in eyesight and severe eye irritation. I already have a history of eye issues, so I'm particularly worried about this. I was wondering if anyone else has had a bad reaction to Alcaine or similar eye drops and how they dealt with it. Has anyone here had an allergic reaction or any other severe issues? Also, should everyone be doing a patch test before a doctor uses it on an eye? I'd appreciate any advice or personal experiences.
