I've recently been prescribed Ferumoxytol 510mg/17ml Inj to treat iron deficiency anemia related to my kidney disease. The IV treatment seemed to work wonders for my energy levels, but I've had some odd side effects that I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced. I get a headache and some nausea right after the infusion, but those usually go away after a few hours. The doctor said it was likely part of the process for getting the iron into my system. However, I've also been dealing with some random swelling in my legs that comes and goes. I am a bit concerned if this is just because I'm not drinking enough water right now, but I can't tell yet. I'm a bit hesitant to go with the recommended iron pills, not only because my kidneys are already struggling, but also because I've heard they can be harsh on the stomach. Does anyone else have any experience with this medication? Has anyone experienced any side effects, or found any tips to make the process easier? Thanks for any help or advice.
