I've recently undergone treatment with Busulfan 6mg/ml Injection as part of my conditioning for a bone marrow transplant. The medication has been brutal, and I've experienced several severe side effects. I'm hoping to connect with others who have gone through this and share our experiences. Many of the side effects listed are horrifying, but I'd like to know if anyone has had a generally positive experience with this drug? I'd love to hear both the good and the bad. I've had severe stomach pain, constant fatigue, and some scary episodes of feeling extremely weak and dizzy. There were even a couple times where I lost my appetite completely, but then I'd randomly develop an intense craving for something bizarre, like pickles or yogurt. I've also had some scary moments with my vision—it's been blurry at times, and I've even had slight hallucinations (only visual, thankfully!). I know some of these side effects are due to the high dose of chemo, but it's been quite an emotional rollercoaster. One thing that has been really helpful is talking to my oncologist. She's been amazing at explaining the side effects and what to expect. For example, I was really worried about the eye issues, but she assured me that my vision should return to normal after treatment. I've also been trying to stay as active as possible, which has helped with the fatigue. I am just looking for advice and support from others who have had to go through this treatment. Is there any advice you have on how to handle these side effects? Specifically, I’d love to hear if anyone has found any effective strategies to manage the severe stomach pain and extreme weakness.
