Anyone else taking Symmetrel 50mg/5ml Syrup (Amantadine) for Parkinson's?
I was recently prescribed Symmetrel 50mg/5ml Syrup for my Parkinson's symptoms and I'm curious to hear from others who are taking it. I've noticed some changes in my mood and energy levels, and I'm wondering if these are common side effects or if I should talk to my doctor. Has anyone else experienced weird dreams? Also, I'm a bit concerned about the serious side effects listed. How often do these actually come up? Any insights or advice would be great!

I think the biggest shock was the weird urges. I wanted to eat everything in sight! It was like I was possessed by a foodie demon. It's gotten better though.
This stuff is a godsend for my Parkinson's symptoms, but the side effects can be a hassle. I’ve found that taking it with food helps a lot with the stomach issues.
Yeah, the dry mouth is the worst. I keep a water bottle with me all the time now. It's a small price to pay for the relief it gives, though.
I started taking Symmetrel a few months ago and it's been a lifesaver for my stiffness. Just be aware of the potential for mood changes. I've felt a bit more anxious than usual, but it's manageable.
