I've been dealing with high cholesterol for a while and my doctor prescribed me Niacor 500mg tablets. Niacin (nicotinic acid) is a vitamin that, at higher doses like in Niacor, is supposed to help reduce 'bad' cholesterol (LDL and triglycerides) and increase 'good' cholesterol (HDL) by reducing the amount of fat produced by your liver. I've read that taking aspirin 30 minutes before taking Niacor can help with flushing, but I'm curious to hear from others who have tried this. Also, I'm a bit concerned about the potential side effects, particularly the serious ones. Has anyone else experienced any severe issues, or are the side effects mostly manageable? I want to make sure I'm taking this medication safely and effectively. If you've had experience with this drug or any other cholesterol medications, I'd love to hear your thoughts and advice.
