Tetracaine 0.5% eye drops used for numbing the eye’s surface: how to use it safely and what side effects to watch out for
I just got Tetracaine 0.5% Opthalmic Solution prescribed to help numb my eye for a quick procedure. It's used to quickly block pain signals on the surface of the eye, which is great for short medical procedures like removing a foreign object or measuring eye pressure. My doctor said it works fast, but I'm a bit concerned about the side effects, especially the urgent ones. Has anyone used this before? I want to make sure I'm prepared for the possible allergic reactions and other side effects. I'm curious about the burning or stinging sensations some people might experience. Those sounds unpleasant, but I guess it's worth it if it means no pain during the procedure. Also, what should I do if I experience eye irritation, and will my vision change? Any advice or personal experiences would be super helpful, thanks!
