I've been dealing with cold sores for a while now, and my doctor prescribed Zovirax 5% Ointment for the first time. This antiviral ointment contains Acyclovir and is supposed to help heal the sores faster and reduce pain. I'm curious to know how well it works for others and what side effects you might have experienced. The description mentions possible skin irritation, burning, stinging, and itching, but I'm also concerned about the more severe allergic reactions. Has anybody had any issues with those? Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences if you've used this before.
