I was recently prescribed Mupirocin 2% Ointment for impetigo, a common skin infection. I've heard it's pretty effective, but I'm also a bit worried about the potential side effects. The doctor mentioned that while it's generally safe, some people can experience burning, itching, or even severe allergic reactions. Has anyone here used this ointment before? I'd love to hear about your experiences with it. Specifically, did it work well for your infection, and what kind of side effects did you experience, if any? Also of note, my doctor mentioned that if I experience severe diarrhea, I need to seek immediate medical attention. I'm not sure what to make of that warning, but it sounds serious.

I was prescribed Mupirocin 2% Cream 15gm for an impetigo infection and wanted to share my experience. The cream did wonders and completely cleared up the infection after a week or so. However, I did experience some side effects worth sharing. I noticed a burning sensation initially, which isn't unusual according to the leaflet, but it did make me wary. A friend had a more severe irritation at the site on his leg and needed to stop using it. The big concern for me is the potential for severe reactions. Mupirocin is used to treat skin bacterial infections so it works by stopping the growth of bacteria but I just want to share my concerns about allergics and stomach issues. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Are there better options out there? I'm curious if anyone else has had to deal with these side effects or if they found the benefits far outweighed the negatives.
