Has anyone used Mupirocin 2% Ointment for impetigo? How effective is it for treating the infection, and what side effects did you experience?
I was recently prescribed Mupirocin 2% Ointment for impetigo, a common skin infection. I've heard it's pretty effective, but I'm also a bit worried about the potential side effects. The doctor mentioned that while it's generally safe, some people can experience burning, itching, or even severe allergic reactions. Has anyone here used this ointment before? Be careful with that ointment. I had a bad reaction to it once—got a rash all over my body. Had to stop using it immediately and switch to something else. I’m glad it worked for you, but please do be cautious.
I used it for a week and it cleared up my impetigo. No side effects at all. Just a bit of a sting but nothing major.
I used Mupirocin for impetigo on my kid's face. It worked wonders, but it did sting a bit when I applied it initially. I made sure to apply a thin layer 3 times a day as prescribed. The infection cleared up in about a week. No major side effects, just the initial sting.
Does anyone know if it’s safe to use on babies? My little one got impetigo and I’m not sure what to do. I’m worried about side effects.
I think it’s safe but you should definitely check with a pediatrician. They can give you the best advice tailored to your situation.
This stuff is a lifesaver. I had a pretty nasty case of impetigo on my leg. It cleared up in a couple of days. The only thing I noticed was a bit of itching, but it went away as the infection cleared up. I was so relieved because I had heard it could be really frustrating to deal with. Just make sure to finish the full course even if it looks like it’s cleared up. My doctor explained that stopping too early can lead to a recurrence.
I had a friend who had a severe reaction to this ointment. Make sure you know the signs of a bad reaction and get medical help if you notice anything strange.
