I was prescribed Mupirocin 2% Cream 15gm for an impetigo infection and wanted to share my experience. The cream did wonders and completely cleared up the infection after a week or so. However, I did experience some side effects worth sharing. I noticed a burning sensation initially, which isn't unusual according to the leaflet, but it did make me wary. A friend had a more severe irritation at the site on his leg and needed to stop using it. The big concern for me is the potential for severe reactions. Mupirocin is used to treat skin bacterial infections so it works by stopping the growth of bacteria but I just want to share my concerns about allergics and stomach issues. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Are there better options out there? I'm curious if anyone else has had to deal with these side effects or if they found the benefits far outweighed the negatives.

I had a very bad experience with this cream. My skin was extremely red and irritated after just a few days. Ended up having to go to the doctor for a different treatment. Be cautious and monitor any signs of severe irritation.

I've used mupirocin for years and never had a problem. I don't see what the big deal is. It's a great antibiotic on time and great in the long-term.

My mom used mupirocin for impetigo in her eyes. She had red swollen skin and she couldn't see, so I took her to the doctor and they checked her for an infection with a stick. The stick was the option for a patient with more severe symptoms.

I don’t think I would use mupirocin again. I had to deal with side effects like burning and itching that were simply not worth the relief. It lasted longer than the infection had been gone. It was a rollercoaster of side effects that were more uncomfortable than the initial infection.

The fact that this can cause C diff-associated diarrhea is scary. I had a friend who had to deal with that and it was awful. Be careful with this stuff, please.

I think it's important to note that while the burning or stinging is common, it’s usually not too severe. I had it and it was bearable. But if you experience any other severe reactions, especially if it involves your throat or chest, it is a red flag and you should seek medical attention right away. I was on the phone with a friend and suddenly felt tightness in the chest. Not worth it.
