I've never had a numbing medication before and am a bit nervous. How does Chloroprocaine work exactly? Is the fast onset and quick wear-off a good thing? I've heard it can have the rare but serious side effect of Methemoglobinemia. I'm anxious about that and other urgent side effects listed. Should I be worried? Also interested in hearing about anyone's experience with the other possible side effects. Does anyone know if it's safe for those with allergies to lidocaine?

I got Lidocaine 2% Topical Jelly for my dental appointment, it is a numbing medicine used to temporarily block nerve signals to relieve pain. It was recommended for application to the inside of my mouth before my procedure, but I haven’t used it before and want to be prepared. I understand that it works by numbing the area, but I’m curious about the experience—how long does it take to kick in? Should I expect any side effects? I read about allergic reactions and methemoglobinemia, which sounds scary. Is this common? And how long does the numbness last? Any advice is appreciated!
