Just got my Lidocaine 2% Topical Jelly for a dental procedure. Any tips or things to watch out for?
I got Lidocaine 2% Topical Jelly for my dental appointment, it is a numbing medicine used to temporarily block nerve signals to relieve pain. It was recommended for application to the inside of my mouth before my procedure, but I haven’t used it before and want to be prepared. I understand that it works by numbing the area, but I’m curious about the experience—how long does it take to kick in? Should I expect any side effects? I read about allergic reactions and methemoglobinemia, which sounds scary. Is this common? And how long does the numbness last? Any advice is appreciated!

I guess you should check with your dentist if you have any questions about the product or its application. There are many different types of applications for this product, so it's important to know how to use it properly.
I had a terrible experience with this stuff. I broke out in hives and my throat felt like it was closing. If you're allergic to anything, make sure to tell your dentist before they start.
Lidocaine 2%Topical Jelly works pretty fast, you should feel the area getting numb within a few minutes. Just be careful not to bite your tongue or cheek by accident while it's still numb.
Side effects? You should be fine, Lidocaine is commonly used in dentistry. Just keep an eye on the application area for swelling or redness and if you do get any of the serious symptoms in the description, contact your dentist immediately.
