I've been prescribed Rowasa 4gm Kit (7 X 60ml) for ulcerative proctitis and was wondering if anyone has any tips to share about using it? It's a bit intimidating as I've never used an enema before, and the side effects list is pretty long. Can anyone share their experience with it? How do you know if it's working? How long does it take to see an effect and are there any tricks to make the administration process less uncomfortable? Do you use a heating pad or other methods to make it more comfortable? Also, what do you do about the mess? How do you clean up and how bad is the smell? Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've been using Mesalamine 1000mg Suppositories for the past few months to treat my ulcerative proctitis, and I must say, it's been a game-changer. The suppositories work directly on the inflammation in the rectum, which has significantly reduced my symptoms. However, I did experience some side effects initially, such as slight rectal irritation and a bit of constipation. I spoke with my doctor, and we decided to manage these side effects with some dietary changes and increased water intake. I'm curious if anyone else has had similar experiences or any tips to share? Also, has anyone else had any issues with more serious side effects and how were they managed?
