Just started Abiraterone 500mg Tablets and Prednisone for my Prostate Cancer and I've been reading up on the side effects. I'm really nervous about the potential side effects, especially the life-threatening issues like the electrolyte problems, allergies and unusual heartbeats. This medication is essential for my treatment plan, but I'm curious to know how others have managed these symptoms and side effects. What can I expect and what is everyone's experience with this regimen? Anything I should be doing to be proactive about monitoring? Thank you for your input and for any support you can offer.

I always check in with my doctor and was hesitant to start Abiraterone but my doc assured me the side effects are much less severe than the alternative. Thankfully I haven't experienced major issues but I feel like I'm out of the woods, you know.

I've had some issues with high blood sugar. Make sure to monitor your blood sugar levels regularly if you start experiencing thirst or frequent urination. It's a side effect a lot of people miss!

I had some really scary moments with severe abdominal pain and vomiting. Turned out I had a UTI. And the crazy thing? I had no idea Abiraterone could cause that. So... watch out for those symptoms. And another thing — prednisone is a game-changer in handling side effects. That steroid is a double-edged sword though, so also watch for it's side effects.

The joint pain is no joke. I've started yoga to manage it and it's been a lifesaver.

I've been on Abiraterone for about a year now. The first few months were tough with some serious fatigue and joint pain, but it's manageable now. Make sure to stay hydrated and monitor your blood pressure regularly. It's a tough pill to swallow but it's worth it, for me. I've found that taking it with food helps with the stomach issues. Keep your doctor in the loop about any symptoms you experience.

Be prepared for some serious hot flashes and sweating. It’s like a menopause for men! Seriously though, it’s tough, but my oncologist told me it’s a small price to pay. I’ve had to adjust my diet to manage the electrolyte issues. And honestly? I've had a few scares with blood pressure and breathing troubles, but these are rare and you can handle them with medical intervention. It's really important to be vigilant.

Abiraterone is a lifesaver for me. I had some issues with fluid retention, but my doctor adjusted my prednisone dose and it helped a lot. I'd recommend walking regularly to help with muscle cramps and general fatigue. My tip: Make sure you get regular blood tests to monitor liver function and potassium levels.

Anyone else have serious trouble sleeping? It's been a nightmare.

I've been on Abiraterone for 6 months and I've had some crazy bruising, like just a small bump and it'll turn into a huge bruise. Keeping track of that is essential. It's also caused some weird heart palpitations, so I've had to consult my cardiologist as well as my oncologist, to keep them in the loop. But honestly, the fatigue and bruising are manageable then you get through the initial few months.

I don't know why some of y'all are complaining. It could be worse. It's a life saver, that's it, period.
