I've been diagnosed with colon cancer that has spread to other parts of my body. My oncologist has prescribed Zaltrap 200mg/8ml Inj, 8ml as part of my treatment plan. I've read about the potential side effects and I'm a bit nervous. Has anyone here used Zaltrap before? What was your experience like? How did you manage the side effects? Any advice or encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

This really sucks. I hope you feel better. I know this is a hard time, but I've heard that using Zaltrap slowed down the cancer. Feel better soon!

I'm glad I found this thread. I've been on Zaltrap for a few months now and the worst part has been the mouth sores. Any tips for managing that?

I had a rough time with the mouth sores too. My nurse practitioner recommended using a soft toothbrush and a gentle mouthwash. Plus, my doctor prescribed a special mouth rinse to prevent infections.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I think many people feel nervous about the side effects but it's important to stay informed and prepared. You can talk to your doctor about ways to manage side effects and send a question to you doctor if you think of any between visits. But things can be much easier if you have a good support system.

I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Just know you're not alone. I had to use Zaltrap and it definitely wasn't easy. If you feel up to it, try to stay active. Great tip from my oncologist: Do a little exercise each day to maintain muscle strength.

When I was on Zaltrap, I found that keeping a journal helped me track my symptoms and side effects. It was also a good way to communicate with my healthcare team about how I was feeling. It really helped me manage everything and stay focused on my treatment.
