Abrysvo is a new vaccine that's been getting a lot of attention lately. It's designed to protect adults aged 60 and older from severe lung disease caused by Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). For pregnant individuals, it helps protect their newborns from birth through 6 months of age by passing protective antibodies to the baby. This vaccine is administered in one pack as 0.5ml IM vial, and it's important to understand the possible side effects and how to report them. This thread is to discuss our experiences, concerns, and any questions we might have about Abrysvo. Let the conversation begin!

I heard that Abrysvo can be administered alongside the flu vaccine. Has anyone tried this?

I'm pregnant and my doctor recommended Abrysvo. I'm a bit nervous about the Guillain-Barre syndrome risk mentioned in the side effects. What does everyone know about this? Should I be worried? I've looked it up, but the medical jargon is overwhelming. I just want to keep my baby safe.

This is very interesting. I have never heard of RSV before. I thought the flu vaccine was responsible for this. Thanks for the informative thread! I'll be checking out this vaccine.

I'm curious about the reporting system for side effects. Has anyone tried reporting to the VAERS system? Was it easy to do?

I got the Abrysvo vaccine last week. The injection site was a bit sore, but nothing I couldn't handle. Just be sure to hold a cold pack on it for 10 minutes every hour for the first few hours. It really helps with the pain. No other side effects for me so far. Good to see this option finally available for us adults.

I'm 65 and I've been looking forward to this vaccine. I've had RSV before, and it was brutal. I'm glad there's finally a vaccine specifically for adults. I'm just hoping the side effects aren't too severe. Especially regarding dizziness and fainting. Anyone else heard more specific details about how often or how severe these side effects are?

I'm a nurse and I've seen the impact of RSV on both older adults and infants. This vaccine could significantly reduce the burden on our healthcare system. I'm glad to see more people talking about it. The more we discuss, the more we can educate others about its benefits and potential side effects.

I'm a healthcare provider who has received many questions about the Abrysvo vaccine. Apart from the Guillain-Barre syndrome, the other severe side effects are rare (although still possible). The benefits of the vaccine far outweigh the risks for most people. For pregnant women, this vaccine can prevent serious RSV disease in infants who are too young to be vaccinated. The protection to the baby lasts for up to 6 months post-birth.

Why is it so hard to find information on this vaccine? Is it really a new thing?

I had the vaccine 2 weeks ago and I did experience some dizziness. Nothing severe, just felt a bit lightheaded for a couple of hours. I just sat down and took it easy. I think it’s normal but it might be good to get a friend or family member to check on you.
