I've recently been prescribed Acetazolamide 500mg Inj for dealing with altitude sickness. I'm planning a hiking trip to a high altitude and wanted some real-life insights into how well this drug works for others. I’ve read the info on electrolyte problems and other rare side effects. Unfortunately, the pain at the injection site scares me! I am wondering how bad it is? Can anyone share their thoughts on the injection experience? Also, I know some people take this for other reasons. What are the benefits outside of altitude sickness? Please share your experiences and tips!

I’ve had to take this for edema and it did wonders! But you have to stay hydrated. Ugh, my taste was off for weeks. How do you deal with the lack of taste?

I’ve heard some people take it for migraine prevention, not just altitude sickness. Anyone have experience with that?

I take this for glaucoma. It’s been a lifesaver for reducing eye pressure, but I’ve had to deal with some side effects. Diarrhea and nausea are the most common for me. The pain at the injection site was worse at first, but it has improved. I recommend using a topical cream to reduce discomfort.

I had a really bad reaction to the injection site. It swelled up and was incredibly painful. Fortunately, it only lasted a few days. I went to a bar afterwards, which was a terrible idea, because the doctor said not to drink alcohol while on this medication.
