I've been using Aczone 5% Gel for about a month now to treat my acne, and I've seen some improvements, but I'm also experiencing some side effects that worry me. The gel works by reducing inflammation and fighting bacteria, which is great for clearing up acne. However, I've noticed some dryness and irritation on my skin, and I'm concerned about the potential for more serious side effects. I've read about the rare but serious symptoms like signs of an allergic reaction, pancreatitis, methemoglobinemia, and hemolytic anemia. Has anyone else experienced these issues? Are the serious side effects really that rare? I'm thinking about switching to a different treatment if the side effects get worse, especially given the thought of self-harm or suicide mentioned in the brochure. Does anyone have advice on managing these side effects or any other recommendations for acne treatments?

I'm really wary of the serious side effects listed. Has anyone actually experienced any of these? Like the blue or grey discoloration of the skin from methemoglobinemia or the increased risk of suicidal thoughts? Those are scary.

The dryness and redness are annoying, but they're manageable. I use a good moisturizer after applying the gel and it helps a lot. Just make sure to patch test first and if you notice any severe symptoms, stop using it and see a doctor immediately. Some doctors prescribe a topical steroid like hydrocortisone cream to use concurrently to manage dryness or irritation. Just be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after every application and avoid sensitive areas like your eyes and mouth.

I've used Aczone for a few months and it worked great for me. I had some initial dryness, but it went away after a couple of weeks. Definitely worth sticking it out.

I've only been using it for a week and I'm already feeling the side effects. My skin is so dry and it hurts to even touch it. What should I do? Should I give it more time or should I stop using it?

My skin actually got worse after using Aczone. I had to stop using it and go back to my old treatment. If you're experiencing severe side effects, it might be worth discussing alternative treatments with your doctor.

I switched to Aczone after trying everything else, and it's been a game-changer. No more cystic acne for me! But I do keep an eye out for those serious side effects, just in case. It's always good to be cautious.

I've been using Aczone for over a year now, and it's been great. No major side effects and my skin has never looked better. But I definitely keep an eye out for any changes. If it's working for you, keep going, but if you feel like the side effects are too much, talk to your doctor.

Aczone was a nightmare for me. It dried up my skin so badly my face was literally cracking. I ended up getting a severe bacterial infection and had to go to the ER. If you experience any severe symptoms mentioned or any other concerning symptoms, definitely seek medical help right away. It was terrible but I got myself to a dermatologist and now I'm using a topical antibiotic and a steroid cream.

Stay strong, OP! I remember when I first started using it, my skin was so dry, I felt like it was on fire. But after a few weeks, it calmed down and my acne cleared up. It's worth sticking it out, especially with the help of a good moisturizer.

I've heard that some people experience increased sensitivity to the sun while using Aczone. Make sure to wear sunscreen and protect your skin from UV rays. This could contribute to the dryness and flaking.
