I just started Irinotecan 500mg/25ml Inj, 25ml for colon cancer treatment. It's been a rough week, and I'm looking for advice on managing side effects. The nausea is intense, and I'm experiencing some dizziness. Has anyone else gone through this? How did you cope? Any tips for dealing with the side effects would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'd love to hear about any successes people might have had with it.

I had a similar experience with Irinotecan. The vein irritation at the injection site was actually the worst part for me. Make sure to communicate with your nurse about any redness or pain at the site. They can adjust the infusion rate if needed. Also, staying hydrated and using lip balm helped with the mouth sores. I'd recommend getting a good supply of electrolyte drinks. Keep pushing through and remember it's worth it for the results.

One thing that helped me was ginger tea. It's a natural way to ease nausea. Also, I found that resting a lot helped with the fatigue.

Stick with it. It worked well for my grandmother; it bought her some time and made the cancer manageable.

I felt the same way when I started Irinotecan. The nausea was brutal, but my doctor prescribed some anti-nausea meds that helped a lot. Also, eating small, frequent meals really helped me keep food down.

I had really severe diarrhea. Make sure you have Imodium in your medicine cabinet, and don't be shy about using it. Also, Irinotecan can cause kidney problems. Make sure you're taking care of your kidneys and drinking plenty of fluids.
