Afrezza is an inhaled insulin powder that has been a game-changer for some type 1 diabetics in controlling post-meal blood sugar spikes. It works quickly and is absorbed similarly to naturally produced insulin, but it hasn't been without controversy. I've seen mixed reviews online and would love to hear from others who have tried it, including those who have had side effects. I am particularly concerned about the lung function issues. My pulmonologist recommends regular monitoring but I've heard from others who have stopped taking it after experiencing throat irritation and cough. What have your experiences been like? Would you recommend it to others or not? Let's share our stories and insights!

I've been using Afrezza for about 6 months now and it's been a lifesaver for my post-meal spikes. No more worrying about weight gain, which I get from long-lasting injectables. But I am a bit worried about the lung function issue. The exhaler doesn't seem to bother my throat, though. It's actually much easier to use than needles.

I've had no side effects, but I've got to go in every 6 months to check my lung function. It's a bit of a hassle, but worth it to be able to breathe in insulin rather than jab it in. I've noticed my blood sugar stays in the normal range a lot more than it used to because it works so quickly!

I switched to Afrezza after years of injecting insulin, and it's been a breath of fresh air (pun intended). It's so much easier to use and the quick action is awesome. But seriously, if you've had any kind of lung issue, be sure to check with your doctor. I had minor irritation at first and was concerned, but it went away after a couple of weeks.

I'm not a fan of inhalables at all. I've tried it and didn't like it, just felt like it was too experimental for me. It might just be me but I don't feel like inhaling insulin is going to work for me long-term.

Inhaleable insulin seems a bit sketchy, maybe a bit gimmicky. But honestly, I don't have much experience with it. Has anyone here tried afrezza and their pancreas actually starts producing insulin again? That would be amazing for me.

I've had some of the side effects listed but I think it's worth the tradeoff of some of the side effects to get the convenience. I can't comment on the long-term results but I am relieved at how much easier it is to control my sugar.

What I really like about Afrezza is that it's more convenient to use for me to control my sugar while out in public than having to use a needle, then having to worry about the people in the public place looking at me and what I have to do. It's worth the tradeoff for me.

I've heard horror stories about lung function issues. My doctor warned me before I got started. But it has been worth it for me because I can control my blood sugar so much better.

I had the throat irritation and it was miserable. I only had that for about a week, but it was so bad I couldn't keep taking it. I've never tried inhaled insulin before so I can't really compare it to other medications. I've gone back to using injectables but honestly miss the convenience of the inhaler!

I wish I could have tried it. Unfortunately, my doctor said it wasn't right for me because of my asthma. I'd love to hear if anyone else here has had success with Afrezza and asthma.
