I'm planning a trip from Ahmedabad to Khatu-Shyam-Temple and could use some advice. I've heard the journey is quite scenic, but I'm not sure about the best way to get there. Should I take a train, bus, or hire a private cab? Any recommendations on places to stop along the way? Also curious about the best time to visit the temple. I want to avoid crowds if possible. Has anyone stayed overnight nearby and can recommend good accommodations? Thanks for any tips!

Don't miss the nearby villages when you go. The local crafts and textiles are beautiful. If possible, visit a local family for a homestay. It was one of the most memorable trips of my life.

I heard the temple is being renovated and is going to be even more beautiful by the end of this year.

I did this trip last year. I took the train from Ahmedabad to Ringas Junction, then a cab to the temple. Train was comfortable and scenic. The cab ride was about 1 hour from the station.

You can skip the train journey and hire a cab from Ahmedabad. The drive is about 8-9 hours and includes some beautiful landscapes. On the road you can have lunch at Sufal’s Dhaba (grab some dal-bati!) while staying hydrated. Make sure to stroll around the temple complex, visit the Sarovar (pond), and if possible, the museum. You can stay at the Govt. Circuit House (dormitory) or in private hotels (like Vaishno Devi Lodge or Shri Ram Kuti). I recommend getting a guide for the temple as it will help you understand the history and significance of the place better.

I'd go for the cab or bike. Having that flexibility is worth it. Just make sure to test your bike if you're not experienced.

or rent a bike! The freedom is unmatched and you can stop at any point to enjoy the views. I did this with a friend and it was an incredible adventure. It takes a bit longer but the experience is totally worth it. We stayed at a campsite near the temple and it was a memorable stay.

best time to go is early morning or late evening. crowds are less and the weather is cooler.

I've done the trip twice. First time by train, second time by car. The train journey is more relaxed, but the car gives you the freedom to explore. There's a lot to see between Ahmedabad and the temple, especially around the Mewat region. I recommend hiring a local guide to explore the temple. Amongst the many notable spots, the temple's architecture and the intricate carvings will leave you awestruck. The temple is believed to be 5000 years old, and visiting the various holy shrines and the Nathdwara Nandi Mandir is a must. Also, try the local cuisine at the nearby restaurants. The local food is delicious and very reasonably priced.
