Aldurazyme Injection, 5ml, is a medication used to treat Mucopolysaccharidosis I (MPS I), a genetic condition caused by a missing enzyme that helps break down complex sugars. This buildup can lead to severe damage to many organs. Aldurazyme helps breakdown sugars, potentially improving symptoms and slowing disease progression. However, like any medication, it comes with serious side effects that could be life-threatening. These include signs of an allergic reaction, changes in blood pressure, lung or breathing problems, and infusion reactions. Other possible side effects include irritation at the injection site, diarrhea, and stomach upset. I'm curious to hear from those who have experience with Aldurazyme—in what ways has it improved your or a loved one’s quality of life? What side effects did you experience, and how did you manage them? Do you think the benefits outweigh the risks?

Really tough choice. The side effects are scary, but for some, the benefits are undeniable. It's all about weighing the risks and benefits.

The serious side effects are part of it. I hope the pharma companies will continue to do more research for better alternatives in future.

I've seen too many friends have serious reactions. The benefits are there, but I'm a bit hesitant about it.

My MPS I diagnosis was terrifying, but Aldurazyme has made it bearable. The injection site irritation is a small price to pay for better health.

I've been on Aldurazyme for two years now, and while it has improved my symptoms, the infusion reactions are no joke. I always make sure to have my doctor on speed dial just in case.
