I've recently been prescribed Alendronate 10mg Tablets for osteoporosis. I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the jawbone problems and severe allergic reactions. Has anyone else taken this medication? What were your experiences like? Did you encounter any of the more serious side effects? How did you manage them? I'm curious to hear both positive and negative experiences so I can be prepared. Any tips for taking this medication safely would be greatly appreciated!

I've been on Alendronate for about a year now. The first few months were tough with some stomach issues, but it's gotten better. Make sure to take it on an empty stomach and stay upright for at least 30 minutes afterward to avoid stomach issues. Also, get your calcium and vitamin D levels checked regularly.

Hmm, I thought the side effects were all a bit overhyped. I've been on the stuff for two years, and my only issue was a bit of nausea. Otherwise, it's been great for my bones.

How about this: my mom takes this, and she says it’s made all the difference. No side effects—she’s just making sure to check her bone density regularly. I think it’s working for her. I really hope it works for everyone!

Serious question: Does anyone know if drinking coffee or tea after taking Alendronate will interfere with its effectiveness? I haven't found a clear answer anywhere.

I take mine with a full glass of water and wait at least 30 minutes before eating or drinking. It's a pain, but it helps with the side effects, I find.

Jawbone problems on this stuff are no joke. My friend's mom had to get her wisdom teeth removed. Just an FYI. I'm personally terrified of them. Let's hope you don't get any of the bad stuff.

Ugh, I had to stop taking it because of the stomach issues. It was terrible. I switched to a different medication and it's been fine ever since. Hoping for the best for everyone else on here.

I switched to alendronate from a different osteoporosis medication and it has been a game-changer. I no longer have the terrible back pain I was experiencing. I can't speak to the serious side effects, but I do get occasional headaches. I was worried about the jawbone issues, especially since I had some dental work done recently. I discussed this with my doctor, and they reassured me that with regular check-ups, I should be fine.

I did have some constipation and a bit of stomach pain, but nothing too bad. I've heard some scary stories about the jawbone issues, but I've been lucky so far. I do worry about it though. Doc says regular dental check-ups are a must while on this med.

I had terrible headaches when I started taking alendronate tablets. They said it wasn't serious side effects. But I asked my doctor to consider another medication due to a bad reaction. So far so good!
