I recently started using Alevazol 1% ointment to treat my persistent athlete's foot. The stuff seems pretty effective, but I've noticed some weird side effects and my healing is excruciatingly slow. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience or if there are any tips out there for speeding up the healing process. I've been using it every day for two weeks now, and while the itching has gone down, the scarred area is still pretty red and irritated. I'm eager to hear other people's stories and how they've handled this. If there are any dermatologists or medical professionals in the area I would love any advice or insight they can give. Thanks in advance for any input!

You need to make sure you apply it thoroughly and keep the affected area dry at all times. I also used a separate antifungal powder in the mornings that seemed to help a lot. I reapply the ointment before bed and it works to keep the area dry while I sleep. I also noticed that using a fresh tube of ointment after a few weeks helped, as the old one seemed to be less effective. Maybe the ointment oxidizes over time and loses some of its potency?

I had a pretty severe reaction to this ointment. Swelling and blisters were too much so I had to go to the ER. I would’ve called the doctor sooner but I had a weekend getaway!

Alevazol did the trick for me, but I made sure to keep the area really clean and dry. I used a powder after applying the ointment, and it sped up the healing. It helped to prevent further irritation, too.

I’ve used Alevazol for athlete’s foot, and while it worked, I had a really bad burning sensation. I had to switch to a different one because the burning was unbearable.
