I just started my daughter on Alkindi Sprinkle 2mg Capsules for her adrenal insufficiency. The doctor says these little capsules will help replace the cortisol her body isn't making. Has anyone else given these to their kids? I'm curious about real-world experiences, especially side effects. The list is long, and I'm a bit overwhelmed. I want to make sure I'm prepared. When I search online it's hard to find personal experiences to go with the medical information.

I'm hoping the weight gain and increased appetite is temporary. I really want this to work but if he keeps gaining weight we are gonna have to start cutting back on his food a little.

Keep a close eye on any signs of infection. Kids with adrenal insufficiency are more susceptible, and it can be really serious. Also, make sure you're giving the right dose at the right time, like exactly 12 hours apart. It seems like a small thing, but it can make a big difference.

This is a serious topic, but honestly with the right care this can be managed. These meds can be life-changing!

I'm glad I found this thread! My nephew has adrenal insufficiency, and I've been trying to understand his treatment better. Is it true that this medicine can affect growth? My sister is worried about that, and I'd like to have some solid info to share with her. I think the docs said something about steroids having a long-term impact on growth, but I know some kids take these for years and seem fine.

It will be a long road, but make sure you are taking care of yourself as well as your kid. It's easy to forget about yourself when your kid is sick. I hear that a lot. It's not the easiest thing to do, but it will make things easier for both of you.

This is a scary situation, but as long as you're monitoring your child closely and working with a good doctor, it should be manageable. Do you have a way of getting a hold of someone who knows someone who used this drug? It's a small world and it might help you to have more information than what they put on the drug's container.

If you notice any severe side effects, don't hesitate to contact your doctor or head to the ER. I had to rush my daughter to the ER for some bad side effects.

Call me paranoid, but that side effects list is terrifying. I'm still not sure if I'm ready to start my daughter on this medication. Has anyone seen any of the really scary side effects?
