I've been taking Allopurinol 100mg tablets for the past six months to manage my gout. I've had a pretty rough experience with it, and I've come to understand that there are some serious potential side effects. Like many others, I've got the usual side effects like drowsiness, diarrhea, and upset stomach. However, I've been really worried lately because I've started having some symptoms that feel like allergies. Allopurinol works by blocking an enzyme that makes uric acid, but what else does it do to your body? Has anyone else noticed something serious or alarming?

Allopurinol saved my life. I had a kidney stone that was causing excruciating pain and my doctor prescribed Allopurinol. It worked like a charm. No more kidney stones. I take it daily as a preventative.

I've been taking Allopurinol for a while now and I've had some issues with my liver. My doctor said it was probably due to the medication, and I'm not sure what to do. I've been really worried because the liver issues can be really bad. I don't want to stop taking it, but I don't know what to do. I think I'll talk to my doctor about switching medications. Has anyone else gone through this?

I had a really bad reaction to Allopurinol. I developed a rash and my skin started peeling off. I had to stop taking it immediately and went to the ER. My doctor said it was a rare allergic reaction. It's scary stuff and I really wish someone had told me about these side effects before I started taking it. My doctor said I could try febuxostat, but I don't trust my body with any more medication.

I had to stop taking Allopurinol because it was making me really sick. I had a fever, chills and a sore throat.. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure if it's a side effect or not. I'm really worried.

I've had some pretty bad side effects from Allopurinol, but I've found that taking it with food helps a lot. I also drink a lot of water and avoid alcohol. I hope this helps!
