I am wondering about the kidney problems listed as a side effect. Has anyone had any issues with that? It sounds pretty scary.
I had a bad reaction to it first, it was scary. I got hives, swelling, and some severe chest tightness. I had to stop using it. It was terrifying, but I've tried another Factor IX and it's working for me. Know that everyone's different, be careful!
I found a great support group online for people with hemophilia who use Alprolix. It's been a great way to get tips and share experiences. I'd recommend checking it out if you haven't already. Check it out on Facebook.
The docs always say it's rare, but I don't like the sound of those blood clot symptoms. I'm paranoid about it and I always check with my doctor if I feel any chest pain or anything like that.
Be sure to speak openly with your doctor about these side effects. Mine was very reassuring and made me feel at ease about the whole process. It helps a lot, some of these side effects are scary to read about but my doctor made me feel safe.
