I've started treatment with Ambisome 50mg for a serious fungal infection and was interested to see if anyone else has used it. The liposomal form is supposed to reduce side effects, but I'm still really worried about the potential for kidney problems. Has anyone else experienced these issues and how did they manage them ?, Has anyone had bad reactions during or after the infusion? How did your doctor handle it. How long did it take for you to feel better? I want to hear from anyone who's dealt with this before and can offer some advice to someone newly initiated into the world of fungal infections treatment.

How bad is the constipation? That's my biggest fear. I've been trying to load up on fiber before I start, but who knows if it'll help. If anyone has any tips, I'd appreciate it.

I had a pretty bad reaction during my first infusion. Felt like I was having a heart attack, but it turned out to be just the medication. They had to stop the infusion and give me something to counteract it. I was fine after that, but it was scary as hell.

I stuff myself with bananas and avoid things like milk when I am on medicines like this. I don't know if it makes a difference, but it's what I do. I just want to minimise any discomfort as much as I can.

I had a really bad allergic reaction to the first dose. I woke up with hives and it felt like my throat was closing. Went to the ER and they gave me a different medication to treat the fungal infection. Not everyone is the same.

I had some dark urine at one point, and it freaked me out. Turns out it was just a weird side effect, but it's worth mentioning to your doctor just in case.

I was on Ambisome for a while and definitely had some side effects, but nothing too serious. Just lots of fatigue and some headaches. I made sure to drink plenty of water and it helped a bit. Hang in there!

I'm on my third week of Ambisome and so far, so good. Just some general fatigue and a bit of nausea, but nothing I can't handle. Keep your spirits up!

I've been on Ambisome for a few months now and honestly, it's been a lifesaver. The side effects are bad, but they're worth it to get rid of this stuff. Just make sure you're in constant contact with your doctor and report everything.

If you can, ask about a pre-medication to reduce reactions. I got some sort of steroid and Benadryl before each infusion, and it really helped.

The pain in my back and muscles was pretty intense at first. It has decreased now. I was honestly worried about the pain at first, but now I don't even think about it.
