Amiodarone is a powerful medicine used to treat very serious, life-threatening irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias). It works by helping to stabilize the electrical activity in your heart. Because it's a strong medicine, it has many potential side effects and requires careful monitoring by your doctor. I've been prescribed Amiodarone and my doctor has been very clear about the potential side effects. I'm a bit nervous about it, so I wanted to see if anyone else has experience with this medication and how they've managed the side effects. I know it can cause lung or breathing problems - I've heard of someone who had a cough, trouble breathing, and fever. What did that person do? How did they respond? It's really concerning to think about. My doctor says the risk of liver problems is also there, so I'll be watching for dark urine, fatigue, and stomach issues. Has anyone else had to monitor for these symptoms and how often should I be checking in?

I had a friend who experienced a severe allergic reaction to Amiodarone. He had a rash and trouble breathing, and had to go to the ER immediately. It's scary but thankfully he's okay, but it's a reminder to take these warnings seriously. You really need to keep an eye on skin for redness, swelling, or blisters.

I had some shortness of breath when I first started Amiodarone. It was scary, but my doctor adjusted the dosage and it got better. It's just crazy to think that this medicine can cause things like eye irritation, sensitivity to bright lights, or shakiness.

Be really careful if you're going out in the sun. I had a bad sunburn and it lasted for days, very painful. I wish I'd known to keep out of the sun more.

I've been on Amiodarone for a while and have noticed changes in my taste and smell. It's annoying, but I'm glad it's not something more serious. It's also caused me to gain weight and feel more anxious, which is tough to cope with.

Be prepared for some weight changes and depression: that was the most surprising side effect for me.
