I've been prescribed Amitriptyline 10mg tablets for nerve pain and I've been reading about the possible side effects. Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm particularly concerned about the potential for serious side effects like hallucinations or liver problems. My doctor didn't say much aside from 'it can happen but it's rare'. I've had some improved sleep, but I'm curious if anyone else has had similar experiences or if the medication has only caused issues.

Do you have a specific doctor who deals with side effects? If not, please make an appointment before it gets worse. It can get serious if you don't talk to a doctor.

Amitriptyline is actually a tricyclic antidepressant and it should help with migraines and nerve pain according to the psychiatrist I know. It's very effective.

If you're experiencing hallucinations, that's definitely something you should bring up with your doctor right away. It could be a sign of something more serious. In the meantime, make sure you're taking the medication exactly as prescribed and avoid any activities that could be dangerous if you start to feel disoriented.

I switched to Nortriptyline and have seen a dramatic improvement in my symptoms, and the side effects are much more manageable. This might be worth discussing with your doctor. - I've experienced hallucinations and a whole host of other issues.

I just started taking Amitriptyline a few weeks ago and I'm already feeling like I can't concentrate on anything. Has anyone else had this issue?

I take 10mg for migraines and I've had some serious weight gain. Like, I'm talking 30 pounds in a few months. Anyone else have this issue?

I've never heard of anyone having hallucinations. I've been on 25mg for years and have never had this kind of issue. Not a big issue for me either, though I tend to take it when it's time to sleep. This makes me want to talk to my doctor. Thanks for the heads up.

Constipation is a pretty common side effect of amitriptyline. It might be a good idea to increase your fiber and water intake while you're taking this medication. If it gets really unbearable, talk to your doctor about adjusting the dosage or changing medications.

I started on 10mg for nerve pain in my feet and it worked wonders. I took it at night and slept like a baby. The dry mouth was annoying but I got used to it. Never had any serious issues

I've been taking Amitriptyline for a while now, and while it's helped with my nerve pain, I've also experienced some really bad side effects. I've had hallucinations a few times, and it's honestly terrifying. I've talked to my doctor about it, and we're trying to adjust the dosage to see if that helps.
