I've been using Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Wash 142ml for about a month now, and while it seems to be helping with my acne, my skin is incredibly dry and irritated. I've tried cutting back to every other day, but it's still not helping. Is this normal, or should I switch to a different product? I've dealt with acne since my adolescence and this sounds concerning. Any advice from dermatologists? Thanks!

The side effects clearly say it can cause dryness and irritation. I'd recommend giving it a little more time and keeping your skin well-moisturized when using this stuff.

You might want to try using a different type of acne treatment if you're feeling desperate. The wash helped me but it took a while to work and my skin got really dry.

Yeah, I had the same issue. I ended up switching to a lower percentage of benzoyl peroxide and it made a big difference. Also, make sure you're not using any other harsh products on your skin at the same time. You might be overdoing it.

I had the same issue. I used it every day for 2 weeks and my skin didn't get any better. I’m pretty sure I'm allergic to something in it. I’ve had to get prescriptions for cream instead. Be very careful.

Benzoyl peroxide can be harsh on the skin, especially if you have sensitive skin. I recommend using it as a spot treatment rather than all over your face and using a gentle moisturizer afterwards. Also, make sure to avoid the urge to over exfoliate which can worsen dryness. It can take a while to figure out what works best for you.

Have you tried mixing it with a gentle cleanser? That helped me balance the dryness. I couldn’t use it by itself without my skin feeling like the Sahara. Also, make sure to patch test any new products before using them all over your face. Not all products work for everyone.

I found that using a humidifier at night helped with the dryness. And some people exfoliate to the point where their skin is already irritated then they add BP on top of it which just makes matters worse. So keep in mind what else is going on with your skin outside of using BP. That dryness can be from the BP but it could also be from other external factors.

I've experienced the same thing, it takes some time for the skin to adjust. Try using a really good moisturizer afterwards and see if that helps.
