I've recently been prescribed Carbidopa/levodopa 50-200mg CR Tabs as an extended-release version to manage my Parkinson's symptoms. I was wondering if anyone else here has experience with this formulation and how they find it compared to the immediate-release version? Any tips on managing side effects or general advice would be greatly appreciated!

This medication has been a lifesaver for my dad. He's been on it for about a year and the extended-release formula has really stabilized his symptoms. Only thing is, he's had some trouble with dry mouth but it's not too bad.

I've had some really odd dreams since I started this medication. Anyone else experiencing that? It's a bit weird but not too bad.

I take it with fruit juice. It makes it a lot easier to swallow and sometimes the taste is tolerable. My advice: don't take it with coffee, it's nasty.

I've been on this for a few months now and it's been a game-changer for me. The extended-release version has definitely helped with the consistency of my symptoms. Nighttime dosing has made a difference too. Not a huge fan of the dizziness but overall, it's manageable.

Pieces of advice - take it with food, it helps with the stomach upset. Also, drink plenty of water to counter the dry mouth.

Has anyone tried adjusting the timing of their doses? I find that taking it earlier in the day helps with the sleepiness.
