I've been taking Potassium Cit 540mg (5meq) Tablets for a few months now to prevent kidney stones. It's been interesting to say the least. I was surprised to learn that this medication works by making urine less acidic and increasing a substance called citrate. It seems to be doing the job, but I've had some mild side effects like stomach pain and diarrhea. I noticed some people said they can see the tablet shell in their stool, which I found strange. I've read the FDA documentation and I am aware of the more serious side effects. I'm just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience or if they have any tips for managing the side effects. I'm also wondering if anyone has switched to a different treatment and how that went. I'm open to hearing different experiences and sharing info to help others with kidney stones.

I'm just here to say that these tablets saved my life. I had a bunch of kidney stones and was in constant pain. After a couple of months on these, I haven't had any issues.

I just started taking these and I'm already noticing a difference. My urine is less acidic and I feel like I'm not getting kidney stones as much.

I've been taking Potassium Citrate for about a year now. At first, I had some stomach issues, but they went away after a few weeks. I take them with a glass of water during a meal and I have not had any issues with an acidic stomach or burning.

I was prescribed these recently and was wondering how everyone handles the inconveniences. I take a couple of over the counter probiotics and it has helped some. I've made an appointment to swap in to see other options like allopurinol or another diuretic. Let's see how it goes!

I've been on these tablets for a while and honestly, the diarrhea was the worst part for me. It's hard to want to take them regularly when this is a side effect.

I take mine right before bed. I don't know if it's because I'm laying down for a while but I have not had any nausea or vomiting.

I've had kidney stones in the past, and I've tried a bunch of different treatments. This is the only thing that really worked for me. Just be patient, it can take a bit of time to find the right dosage and routine but it works. I don't have the stones anymore and I'm pain free!

I was really worried about the serious side effects, but I haven't experienced any of them. I did have a bit of weakness and fatigue, but it was mild and manageable.

I noticed the tablet shell in my stool too! It's weird, but the pharmacist said it's normal. It's good to know it's not a cause for concern. I take mine with food and it helps a lot with the stomach issues. Also, I drink a lot of water to help with the side effects.
