I was recently prescribed SF Rowasa 4gm Enema 28x60ml for my ulcerative colitis, and I'm curious to know if anyone else has tried this medication. The doctor explained that it's a mesalamine rectal enema designed to reduce inflammation in the lower part of the colon and rectum. The idea is to insert it at bedtime and hold it in for at least 8 hours. I've been doing this for a week now, and while I haven't noticed any severe side effects yet, I'm a bit anxious about the potential risks. Has anyone else had positive experiences with this treatment? How did you handle the initial discomfort or any side effects?

I had some rectal irritation at first, but it went away after a while. Just make sure to use plenty of lubrication when inserting the enema. My doctor recommended vaseline and it worked great.

I think it's important to note that while the side effects can be scary, they're relatively rare. Most people don't experience them, and the benefits of controlling the inflammation are usually worth the risk. Trust your doctor's advice and stay in close contact with them if you have any worries.

I had to stop using it because I developed a rash and flu like symptoms. It was probably a reaction to the medication. Had to switch to something else and it's much better now. Be careful and watch for any signs of an allergic reaction.

Any tips on how to hold it in for 8 hours without needing a bathroom? That's been my biggest challenge.

I'm not sure if I'm getting any relief but I'm only a week in. How long should it take to notice any changes?

There are other options out there if you find this one too uncomfortable or if it doesn't work for you. It's all about finding the right treatment plan.

I've been on this for a few months and it's been a game-changer. The first couple of weeks were rough, but it's definitely worth sticking with it. Just be prepared for some initial discomfort and maybe some cramping. Stay hydrated and listen to your body.

I wish it worked for me. I had some issues with the SF Rowasa 4gm Enema 28x60ml and ended up switching to a different treatment. It just didn't agree with my system. I think everyone's experience is different, so it's worth trying if your doctor recommends it but keep your eyes open.

I've been on it for a few weeks and so far no severe side effects but I feel it's not doing much

I've never had to use something like this before but it's working so far. I don't know what I was expecting but it's not so bad.
