I was prescribed Gentian Violet 2% Solution 59ml for a case of oral thrush. I've used it a couple of times now, and while it seems to be doing the trick, I'm left with a purple mouth that's a dead giveaway! Has anyone else used this and dealt with the staining? Also, I'm curious about potential side effects. The leaflet mentioned skin irritation and allergic reactions. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I'd love some tips on how to manage this treatment effectively.

I have a recurring mouth infection so I use Gentian Violet regularly. I always rinse really well afterward to avoid staining. But seriously, don't let it touch your tongue! It's a nightmare to get out.

I work in a pharmacy and we often recommend this for minor skin infections. It's been around for ages and is pretty reliable. Just be cautious with the staining as mentioned. Also, if you experience any allergic reaction, stop using it immediately and see a doctor.

I had a horrible allergic reaction to this stuff. My skin was super itchy and I broke out in hives. Definitely worth mentioning to a healthcare provider if you have sensitive skin.

I used it on my kid for a bad diaper rash. It worked but oh man, that purple butt. It's a good reminder to keep it out of reach. I wish there was a non-staining alternative. I'm convinced my sheet set is permanently stained.

I used it for a toe fungus. I think it helped, but the constant stumbling over my laundry because of the stains was not worth it. Maybe try a smaller area first? I never would have guessed how long the stain lasts if it's deep.

I used it for thrush and it was a lifesaver. Just be careful where you apply it, especially around clothes you care about! And yeah, the staining is real. I made sure to rinse well after. Good luck!
