I was recently prescribed Hydrocortisone 100mg Enema 60ml for ulcerative colitis and I'm feeling a bit skeptical about using it. The nurse went over the possible side effects, but I'm still unsure. I've been on them for months. They helped a lot at first, but now I'm noticing some side effects. My doctor said it might be a good time to taper off and try something else. My experience is that it's great for immediate relief but long-term use can be tricky because of side effects.
I just started taking these enemas myself. I've only done them a few times, but they seem to be working. I read the literature and it made me nervous, but I've found them pretty easy to use. I had some minor irritance at the site of application, but that went away.
I used this a few years back and it honestly helped a lot. The side effects weren't too bad, and it was pretty easy to use once I got the hang of it.
Seriously, make sure you get the dosage correct. I missed it once and I had some crazy joint and bone pain. I honestly thought it was the side effects and I had to change my whole routine. Took me a while to figure out what happened.
