Anyone Had to Drink E-Z-paque 96% Oral Suspension for an X-ray? What Was Your Experience?
I have to drink E-Z-paque 96% Oral Suspension for a barium swallow X-ray. It’s supposed to help the doctor see my digestive tract more clearly. It's nice that it doesn't absorb into the body, but I’m a bit nervous about how bad it will taste and how it might affect me. Has anyone had to take this before? What was your experience like? How did you prep for it? Any tips for dealing with the taste and potential side effects?

I've had it too, and I agree with the advice to hold your nose to mask the flavor. Also, my doctor recommended taking some ginger tea beforehand to help with any potential stomach cramps. It worked for me!
I had to take E-Z-paque for an upper GI series. The taste was awful, like really bitter and chalky. I had to hold my nose and drink it quickly. Best to have a small meal an hour before so there is something in your stomach.
I've never heard of this but I know someone else who had to drink it for an X-ray; they said the process was smooth for them. Just read the instructions carefully, it will go smoother than you expect.
I actually found that drinking it through a straw helped a lot with the taste. It makes it go down quicker which is the best option.
I've had to do this twice. The first time, I was so nervous I didn't sleep the night before. The second time, I followed the instructions perfectly, drank water before and after, and actually felt okay! Just try to stay calm, and drink it as fast as possible.
