I have an autoimmune disease and my doctor prescribed me Azathioprine 100mg injections. I wanted to hear from people who have been on this medication, particularly with the injected form. How have you found it to be? What side effects did you experience, and how did you manage them? Is there anything you wish you had known before starting this medication? Any tips for minimizing side effects or making the injection process easier?

I've been on it for a month and I'm having some bleeding issues. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

It sounds like this medication may be useful but it's important to weigh pros and cons with your doctor. I personally prefer other medication, but that's my story. Hope you find what works for you.

I had a really bad reaction to Azathioprine. I ended up in the ER with severe liver problems. If you start feeling really tired, have dark urine, or yellowing of the skin or eyes, get to a doctor ASAP.

Azathioprine saved my life after my kidney transplant. The injections were a bit of a hassle, but totally worth it. Just make sure you're taking precautions to avoid infections. Wash your hands religiously and avoid crowds.

I've had better and worse days with Azathioprine. I had some muscle pain and weakness initially, but it wasn't too bad. Keep an eye on any skin changes too and if you notice anything odd, speak to your doctor without delay.

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the mood changes. It's not something I expected, but it's definitely something I've experienced. Keep an eye on that, too.

I had this and couldn't stop throwing up. I wish I never heard the word allergy reaction. If you have to go, do it early in the morning. That's when I had the least nausea. Good luck!

I wear a medical alert bracelet just in case something happens. It lists all the meds I'm on, including Azathioprine. It's given me peace of mind.

I've been on Azathioprine for almost a year now, and it's been a lifesaver for my ulcerative colitis. The injections were a bit scary at first, but my nurse showed me how to do it myself, and now it's no big deal. Just make sure you're keeping an eye out for signs of infection, as your immune system will be weakened.
