I've just been prescribed Hycamtin (Topotecan) 4mg Inj, 1 Vial for my ovarian cancer. I'm really nervous about the side effects, especially the urgent ones listed. Has anyone here gone through this treatment? I'd love to hear about your experiences, how you managed side effects, and any tips you might have. Also, what should I do if I start feeling any of the urgent side effects listed? I want to be prepared but also not overwhelm myself with worry. Are there any support groups or forums where I can find more info? This chemotherapy journey is daunting, so any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I felt so weak and tired during my treatment. Make sure to rest when you need to, but also try to stay active when you can. I found gentle walks to be helpful.

I found that staying hydrated and eating small, frequent meals helped with the nausea and diarrhea. Also, consider using a cooling cap to minimize hair loss. It's not guaranteed to work, but it might help.

For managing mouth sores, I used a mixture of paracetamol for pain and a mouthwash with no alcohol. It can be tough on your mouth and throat, so do your best to keep it clean and the sores treated.

Make sure you have a good support system. Your family and friends should be informed about what you're going to go through. Chemo is hard and having a good support system will definitely help.

Topotecan can be rough, but it's also really effective. I had to take breaks due to side effects, but my oncologist was great at adjusting the dosage. Definitely communicate openly with your medical team. Keep an eye out for any signs of infection, and don't hesitate to call your doctor if you notice anything unusual.

Keep a journal of your side effects and how you're feeling. It'll help you remember everything to tell your doctor, and it's a good way to track your progress. It could also help you manage your side effects as if you are tracking them, you can be more proactive in treating them.
