I've been dealing with a persistent eye infection for a few weeks now, and my doctor prescribed Neo/poly/bac/hc Ophth Oint 3.5gm. It's an eye ointment containing three antibiotics (bacitracin, neomycin, polymyxin B) and a steroid (hydrocortisone) to reduce swelling, redness, and itching. I've started using it, but I want to hear from others who might have used this medication before. How effective was it for you? Did you experience any side effects? Any tips on how to apply it for maximum effectiveness? I've read about some serious side effects, so I'm a bit nervous. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I had to use this for an infection after a scratch on my cornea. It was tough at first because it's a bit messy, but it did the job. Make sure to wash your hands thoroughly before and after application. Also, my doctor told me to avoid wearing contact lenses while using it.

Anyone know if this is covered by insurance? I had to pay out of pocket last time and it was a bit pricey.

The steroid in this ointment helps with the inflammation which was crucial for me. My eye was swollen and red. By the third day, the swelling was gone, and I could open my eye fully again. This ointment saved my week.

Nobody should mess around with eye infections. If you feel something is off, go to the doctor. I’ve had an infection before and waited thinking it would go away but it got worse.

Has anyone experienced eye irritation? I'm a bit worried about that.

I had a bad reaction to this ointment. I started getting a rash around my eye and my vision got blurry. I stopped using it immediately and called my doctor. Turns out I was allergic to one of the antibiotics. If you experience any of those severe side effects, get to a doctor right away.

I had to use it for a week and it worked perfectly. I feel like it’s worth getting the full prescription even if it is a pain to use.
