I had my first experience with Tetracaine 0.5% eye drops last week. I was preparing for a minor eye examination, and the doctor recommended these drops to numb the area. The drops worked well, and I didn't feel any pain during the procedure. However, I had a bit of stinging right after the application. I've read that severe allergic reactions and vision changes are potential side effects, but I'm curious to know if anyone else has had similar experiences or different outcomes? Share your thoughts and experiences on these eye drops!

I experienced some redness and irritation after using these drops. It wasn't too severe, but it was a little uncomfortable. I spoke to my doctor and she assured me it's a common reaction and nothing to worry about.

I've never had any issues, but my mom had a bad experience and ended up with a bad eye infection. Make sure to follow the instructions carefully and avoid touching the eye dropper to anything.

I've had multiple procedures that required these eye drops. While the numbing works well, the stinging sensation is absolutely brutal. I'd recommend taking a deep breath and holding it for a few seconds when you put them in.

I've used Tetracaine a few times for minor procedures and it's been a lifesaver. The burning sensation was there for a moment, but it quickly went away. Just make sure to keep your eyes closed and avoid rubbing them for about a minute after application.

I'm not a fan of these drops; I'd rather just wait an extra 30 minutes for the numbing effect to wear off. But hey, everyone is different.

Just wondering, how long does the numbing effect last? I had it done a few years back and remember feeling numb for a couple of minutes, but what's the typical duration? Also, is it safe for kids? My son needs it for an eye exam this week.

Did your doctor give you the drops in a single-use vial or a bottle? Asking because I've used both and the vials seem cleaner. The bottle, which I've used before, doesn't seem as sanitary. I'd prefer the drops in a single-use vial due to the cleanliness factor.

I had a minor procedure a couple of years back, and the doctor gave me these eye drops. At first, I was scared of the stinging, but it went away. However, always remember it's important to follow the doctor's instructions and not to use the drops more than prescribed.

I had a mild allergic reaction once. While it was nothing serious, it taught me to always inform my doctor about any allergies—no matter how minor. So, if you have a history of reactions to medications, talk it over with your healthcare provider before using Tetracaine.

Serious question - how long does Tetracaine stay in your system after dropping it in your eye?
