I was recently diagnosed with a kidney issue and my doctor is suggesting a CT scan using this special dye. Isovue 370 Inj, 50ml. The list of possible side effects is alarming and I am beginning to freak out a little bit. I need to know more about this.

The most important thing I want to make sure is I do not suffer any allergic reactions or kidney problems as a result of this dye. The risk of kidney damage seems high, but I am not sure if these issues are common or just rare. Can people who have had this procedure share their experiences? How was the recovery, any issues with severe dizziness or fainting, or any other side effects mentioned on the list of possible side effects?

This is the first time I am hearing about Iopamidol and I do not know anyone who has had this procedure. I want to be as informed as possible. I have been reading some forums and websites with conflicting information. Anyone with real, personal experience would be great to hear from.

I am not comfortable with the idea of getting this dye injected into me.

I had the spinal injection version of this dye for my back pain. It did help, but the burning sensation was intense. The doctor was right when he told me it would feel like fire. I didn't experience any of the neurological problems though, so that was a relief.

I had my first CT scan last year and the doctor gave me Isovue. When I got there, they told me I needed to sit still and that I would get a little sleepy. That was all. I did not feel any major side effects, besides a bit of a headache that went away after a while. They told me to drink a lot of fluids after the procedure to flush out any leftover dye. It helped a lot.

I had this scan a couple of years ago and I was so worried about the potential side effects. The worst side effect I had was a little bit of dizziness for an hour or so, but the doctor told me it was just because Ive had a terrible night before the scan. Other than that, the scan was fine and I was able to go about my day without any issues.

My friend had a severe allergic reaction to this dye and they had to stop the scan because she had trouble breathing. It was scary. Unfortunately, I don't know why it happened. She has never had any issues with other drugs, to my knowledge. I am not sure what caused the reaction. Other than that, I think the procedure is safe enough.

I had a bad experience with my kidneys after going through this. The nurse did not monitor me closely enough and my doctor was not very nice or reassuring. The overall experience was really bad. I probably should have reported the nurse, as she was the one who gave me the dye. I think it was the contrast agent that made me feel worse, but I know it could have been a combination of things. As far as the kidney problems, I am not sure whether it was the dye itself or the stress of the situation.

I have seen some posts about serious side effects, but they are extremely rare. It's a contrast agent used in millions and millions of procedures, it's only logical that a couple of people would have a bad reaction. I would be more worried about things like radiation exposure from the CT scan itself, which is much more likely to cause problems than the dye.

I had this dye for a procedure on my spine. It was a difficult test. If I had known about the side effects before, I might have not gone through with it. The doctor did not explain any of the side effects. I had no idea about the burning sensations, and that was the worst part of it. I feel like I got a lot of information from Reddit users, even though I wish I knew more. I had never heard of this until I read this post. I feel like I am more informed by this thread and I hope it helps other people in similar situations.

For sure, make sure your doctor or nurse is aware of any previous allergies. This will make them feel more comfortable with this, and will make you feel more comfortable when going through the procedure. They have to monitor you closely. I think the only thing that is more important is being careful and keeping a close eye on things. It's only the most severe side effects that can be dangerous, and the rare ones, needless to say. Other than that, you should be fine.
