I was recently prescribed Niaspan 1000mg ER Tablets to help manage my cholesterol levels, as my doctor felt diet and exercise weren’t enough on their own. It’s being used alongside other medications as well. I'm a bit nervous because I've heard about some serious side effects. I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this medication? How have you found it? I'd really appreciate hearing about both positive and negative experiences, especially if you've had anything serious like muscle pain or any skin reactions.

I've had some of the common side effects like flushing, headaches, and upset stomach for about a month. I'm sticking with it because my cholesterol levels are going down and that's a good thing, but I'm always worried about the side effects. I decided to report some of these side effects to the FDA just in case.

I had a really bad experience with Niaspan. I started getting muscle pain and weakness, and my doctor had to change my medication because it was really concerning. Be careful and keep an eye out for those symptoms.

Seriously, the flushing is brutal. I can't stand it. But my doctor said the niacin part of it is what helps get the good cholesterol up and the bad cholesterol down.

Has anyone else noticed increased urination? I've been waking up multiple times at night to use the bathroom. I’m really hoping this doesn't last long.
