Anyone Taking Nifedipine 10mg for Chest Pain? Share Your Experience Please
I was recently prescribed Nifedipine 10mg capsules for managing angina and lowering blood pressure. From what I understand, this medication works by relaxing blood vessels and reducing chest pain by preventing calcium from entering certain cells in the heart and blood vessels. I'm curious to know if anyone else is taking this medication and how it's working for them. I'm particularly interested in any side effects people have experienced and how they've managed them. I've read that it can cause dizziness, flushing, and even some more severe side effects, so I'd love to hear some real-life experiences to better understand what to expect. Thanks in advance!

I was worried about the potential for severe side effects, but I haven't experienced any so far. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Dizziness can be a serious problem for some people. I've been taking Nifedipine and I've experienced some minor dizziness myself which can be annoying. So far, it's been easy enough to deal with, and it's worth it to not have chest pain. Just make sure you're careful when getting up and moving around if you experience some dizziness.
Does anyone have any tips for managing constipation? It's been a bit of a struggle for me.
I've been on Nifedipine for about a year now. It's been a game-changer for my chest pain, but I did have some bad side effects at first. I experienced some pretty severe dizziness, flushing and headache, but decided to stick with it for the benefits. My doctor added some small doses of ibuprofen to ease the headaches which worked well, and the dizziness went away after the first few weeks. I've only had mild side effects since, mostly just a bit of fatigue, but it's worth it to keep my blood pressure in check. I haven't had any of the serious side effects, but I know someone who did experience the severe constipation, so hopefully it's not something you'll have to deal with. It's always good to talk to a doctor if you notice any new or unusual symptoms.
I was prescribed Nifedipine a few months ago. It helped my chest pain, so I've been really happy with that, but I noticed swelling in my legs – nothing too bad, but enough to be noticeable. My doctor said it was likely a side effect and adjusted the dosage a bit. I've also just been making sure I get up and move around every hour or so when I'm working to help my legs. It's important to keep track of these things and talk to your doctor if you notice any changes. I also track my blood pressure daily, just to be cautious, but I don't have to worry about extreme blood pressure drops.
I find that Nifedipine works well for me, but I did have some weird side effects. I was so tired all the time. It's been tough to deal with, but it's so much better than the pain. I work out daily and the fatigue is one of those things I just deal with, but it can be a bit rough. I haven't had any of the more serious side effects, so I'm not complaining. Just sharing my experience. I think this pill is kind of fascinating because it blocks calcium by preventing entry into cells. I'm lucky to not have severe symptoms.
I know this isn't funny, but my husband said my face was beet red whenever I started the medication! I laughed and told him to get used to my new look.
Be sure to take the medication as prescribed - you don't want to miss a dose. If you do, take the missed dose as soon as you remember, but if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Also, don't stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor. It's always a good idea to talk about any new medications you're taking with your doctor before you start taking them, too. It could be really dangerous to take Nifedipine with certain other medications.
