Anyone taking the Cardura 1mg Tablets for BPH or hypertension?
I was prescribed Cardura (doxazosin) 1mg tablets to help manage my high blood pressure and symptoms of an enlarged prostate. Has anyone else taken this medication? What were your experiences like? Did you find it effective, and did you have any issues with side effects? The potential for severe side effects is a bit concerning, so I'm interested to hear from others.
For those who've used it, how long did it take to see improvements in urinary symptoms or blood pressure? Did you experience any of the common side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, or fatigue? Were these side effects mild?
I'm also curious if anyone knows about the long-term use of this medication. Does it remain effective over time, or do people often need to switch to a different treatment?
I'd appreciate any insights or advice on managing potential side effects, too. Thanks in advance!

I wondered the same thing about long-term use. I’ve read that sometimes doctors switch patients to a different medication if they see signs of tolerance or if side effects become too bothersome. Keep an open dialogue with your doctor, and don’t be afraid to mention if you’re experiencing anything unusual.
I've been on Cardura for about six months now for hypertension and it has been very effective. I did experience some dizziness initially, but it subsided after the first few weeks. My doctor recommended taking it at night to minimize any daytime drowsiness. I also noticed that my blood pressure has stabilized, which is a huge relief. As for the BPH, I haven't seen any improvement in urinary symptoms, but my doctor said it might take longer to notice changes in that area.
I had a friend who took Cardura and he swore by it, but he stopped taking it because of the long term risks.
Do any men feel as though the side effects are really messing with their daily lives? I imagine getting on and off the toilet is a hassle during the adjustment period.
For anyone on Cardura, have you talked to your doctor about combining it with other lifestyle changes? For me diet and exercise have made a big difference in managing BPH symptoms. I’ve noticed that when I’m more active, the medication seems to work better. Plus, it helps keep blood pressure down naturally. Make sure to drink plenty of water too, it helps a lot.
Cardura helped me a lot with urinary symptoms, but I had to switch to a lower dose because of dizziness and fatigue. Now I take the 0.5 mg dose and it's much more manageable. Wouldn’t recommend starting with the 1 mg dose.
I've heard mixed reviews about Cardura. Some people love it, others have issues. Just make sure to monitor your blood pressure closely and keep an eye out for the rare but serious side effects.
I've been on Cardura for a few months now, and it's been a lifesaver for my BPH symptoms. The dizziness was a bit rough at first, but it went away after a week. My urologist said that's common.
