I've been prescribed Arakoda 100mg Tablets for an upcoming trip to a malaria-prone area in Africa. I've heard it's important to take this medication exactly as prescribed, especially with food. Does anyone have experience with this? I'm concerned about the serious side effects listed, including allergic reactions, hemolytic anemia, and methemoglobinemia. How strictly do I need to follow the dosing schedule? I know you can't miss a dose, but if I do, what happens? Should I take it even if I don't eat first? I'm also worried about some of the other side effects like dizziness or headache. How common are these? My trip is in a month and all the information online is a bit overwhelming.

Definitely stick to the schedule. I missed a dose once and it made me feel off for days. It was mix of low energy and headaches. Plus, the mosquitoes are everywhere and you dont want to take the chance.

Sounds scary but took it for a month for a trip to Africa and didn't have issues. Was always worried about the side effects but didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

This isn't my first trip to Africa so I can tell you, follow the dosing schedule closely. I've seen people mess up and end up with some serious health issues. Call your doctor if you feel any symptoms of the more serious side effects you mentioned.

The main thing is to take it with food and on schedule. I used Arakoda for 2 months straight, no issues. I got some headaches, but they were manageable. Definitely better than the alternative of getting malaria.

Stop eating all the street food. That was my mistake, I got hit with a bad case of diarrhea. Not fun, but managed to finish the dosage without issue. Just do what your doctor says and you'll be fine!

They say some of the side effects are rare but if you start feeling any, just don't take another pill. Seek medical help and they'll know how to manage it. Plus, if you're not eating for some reason, there's an FDA line you can call to ask for advice since missing a dose might be a problem.
