I've recently been prescribed Argatroban 100mg/ml Injection, 2.5ml for Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT). I'm a bit nervous about the side effects, especially the urgent ones. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both good and bad. How was the administration process? Did you have any severe side effects? How did your doctor monitor you during the treatment? Any tips on managing the side effects would be greatly appreciated. Also, for those who were on this medication, how long did you have to be on it before switching to another blood thinner? Thanks!

I was on Argatroban for about a week before switching to another blood thinner. The administration was straightforward, but I did experience some mild side effects like headache and back pain. My doctor monitored my platelet count daily, and I had regular blood tests to check for any signs of bleeding. It was a bit stressful, but the medical team was very supportive.

I feel like the side effects are pretty scary, but they know what they’re doing. My nurse always checked my vitals and gave me the medication without any issues. My main symptoms were some mild stomach upset. The doctor was great, explained everything step by step. Thanks for starting this thread, I didn’t know what to expect, but now it makes me feel at ease a bit.

Why does everything have such terrible side effects? But hey, it can save your life, so it's a double-edged sword, I guess.

I was on this for a month after my HIT diagnosis. Lucky enough, I didn't experience any of the urgent side effects, but I did have a persistent headache. My doctor suggested over-the-counter pain relievers, and it helped a lot. Stay cautious and read the warning signs.

Yikes, the side effects are frightening. I would be more anxious for sure. But as a patient, you have to be brave. Have faith in the medical team.

I had a really rough time with this drug. I developed a severe rash and had trouble breathing. I had to be hospitalized for a few days, but thankfully, it was all resolved eventually. My doctors had to adjust the dose a couple of times before they found the right amount that didn't cause the side effects.

Doctors have to monitor all kinds of things with this medication, from bleeding to allergic reactions. The doctor should check urine and your stool. Make sure you are telling your doctor about every symptom you experience.
