I've been prescribed Aripiprazole ODT 10mg Tablets for my bipolar disorder. Oh boy, the drooling was real for me. I had to carry tissues everywhere, but it went away. It was a small price to pay for the stability it gave me with my bipolar disorder.
I started at 5mg and then increased to 10mg. I think it helped a lot with my anxiety, but I do get restless sometimes. It's worth talking to your doctor about adjusting your dosage if the side effects are bothering you.
I experienced severe constipation and sweating for the first few days. My doc said it was normal to have some side effects as the body adjusts. I did call her to confirm, and she recommended some laxatives and some rest. But it's worth it, as I've seen a huge improvement in my schizophrenia symptoms.
Aripiprazole helped me a lot with my depression but it took about 2-3 weeks for my body to get used to it. I felt a little drowsy at first but it went away. The convenience of the ODT form is great, especially when I'm feeling down and forget to take my meds.
I had a bad experience with this med. I ended up having to stop taking it due to severe dizziness and it also caused me to faint a couple of times. I hope it works better for you than it did for me.
I've been on 10mg for a few months and it took a while for me to adjust, but the side effects are manageable. I've been experiencing a bit of weight gain and dry mouth, and if you feel comfortable I would recommend speaking to the doc about the dosage and other options if it's affecting you. Please do not stop taking the medication without talking to your doctor.
I've heard of some people having issues with uncontrollable urges. It's rare, but if you experience anything like that, talk to your doctor immediately. Also, the ODT form is a game-changer for those who have trouble swallowing pills.
