I was prescribed Asmanex Twisthaler 220mcg for my asthma, and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the side effects list. I've been on it for a few weeks and haven't experienced anything severe, but I'm worried about the long-term effects. How many of you have been on this medication, and what has your experience been? I'm also curious about how everyone manages the cost, as it seems to be quite expensive. Lastly, what should I do if I experience minor side effects like headache or throat irritation?

Don't be alarmed by the side effects list. People freak out seeing those things. I've never had more than a slight headache. My doctor said it's rare to have a reaction and that he’s mostly seen the minor side effects.

Increased sputum production? Are you kidding me? No thanks! Wouldn’t that be the worst? Might be time to consider an alternative...

I've been relying on Asmanex for over a decade now. I had to switch from another inhaler because of a bad cough. The transition was smooth, and I haven't had any major issues. The only thing that bothered me was the cost, but my insurance usually covers most of it. Regular check-ups with my doctor have always been a part of my routine now, mostly just to make sure everything’s okay, especially since this medicine can have severe side effects.

It worked well for me when nothing else did, but I had to switch because of a subtle change in my vision. It went away once I stopped the medication. It's all very individual and I think you need to monitor closely and work with your doctor to see whether it's worth it.

I get worried about taking these kinds of drugs regularly—what if they stop working over time? My friend had to switch medications after a few years because they became less effective. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've been on Asmanex for years and haven't had any major issues. Just make sure to use it regularly and keep your rescue inhaler handy for sudden symptoms.

It's crucial to follow your doctor's advice on using Asmanex regularly, even when you feel well. The medication builds up in your system over time, so skipping doses can lead to reduced effectiveness. That's what happened to me, and it was a tough lesson to learn. I had to restart from scratch.
