I've been prescribed Austedo 9mg Tablets to manage the symptoms of Huntington's disease, specifically the uncontrolled movements. While it's been helpful, I can't help but worry about the potential side effects. Has anyone else experienced any of the serious side effects listed? I'm particularly concerned about the risk of neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS). How common is this, and what should I do if I notice any of the symptoms? Additionally, I'm curious about the long-term effects of this medication. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I’ve been on Austedo for a few months now, and it’s made a significant difference in my chorea symptoms. I haven’t experienced any serious side effects, just a bit of drowsiness and fatigue. Make sure to discuss any concerns with your doctor, and don’t hesitate to reach out if something feels off.

Has anyone experienced changes in eyesight or dizziness? I’ve had a couple of episodes where I felt like I was going to faint, and it’s really scary. I’m not sure if it’s the medication or something else.

I was really worried about the neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) when I started Austedo. My doctor assured me it’s rare, but if you experience fever, muscle stiffness, and confusion, go to the ER immediately. It’s better to be cautious.

Drowsiness and fatigue are common, but they usually pass after a few weeks. If it persists, talk to your doctor. They might adjust your dose or switch you to a different medication. Don’t suffer in silence!

I think it’s important to remember that everyone’s experience with medication is different. What works for one person might not work for another. Stay positive, and keep communicating with your healthcare provider.

You should definitely pay attention to any signs of an allergic reaction. I had a friend who had a severe reaction to a different med, and it was scary. Better safe than sorry, right?

Austedo can also affect your menstrual cycle, so ladies, be prepared for that. My periods have been all over the place since I started, and it’s a bit frustrating. My doctor said it’s common, but it doesn’t make it any easier to deal with.

I think a lot of people forget to drink enough water when they start a new medication. Stay hydrated, it helps with a lot of the side effects like dizziness. Also, keep your doctor in the loop.
